About the event

The ‘special relationship’ between the United Kingdom and America oscillates between being lauded by politicians and dismissed by the media as a myth. Yet, the two countries are closely bound together through their shared intelligence networks.

In conversation with David Abrutat, Michael Smith will explore how these intelligence-sharing commitments have been crucial to global security. From the days of Bletchley Park through the Cold War and into the modern War on Terror, he will show how trans-Atlantic intelligence exchange remains at the heart of the ‘special relationship’.
