About the event
Until he encountered a photograph of an enigmatic young man in army uniform among a stash of family records, Michael Palin had no idea that he had a Great-Uncle Harry.
Following this discovery, he embarked on a quest to uncover more about this man whose life had been cut short at the age of 32 while fighting in the Battle of the Somme.
Michael Palin discusses his new book on Great-Uncle Harry, the product of hundreds of hours of painstaking detective work. Reflecting on his research journey, Palin paints a picture of this previously forgotten figure – an ordinary man who lived an extraordinary life.
There will be no book signing at the end of this event.
