The event
Royal figures have been attracted to the charms of the sleepy village of ‘Chelsey’ on the banks of the River Thames since Henry VIII bought a property here for his favourite wife.
Other royal residents have included Elizabeth I and Lady Jane Grey. In more recent times, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has been a regular visitor to Chelsea since before her accession to the throne 70 years ago.
Guiding you through the historic streets of old Chelsea, Emma Matthews will reveal how kings and queens – as well as those close to them – have helped shape the place it is today.
Starting and ending at the info point at Chelsea Gate, the tour lasts about two hours.
